My Favorite Reads of 2012

2013 is nearly upon us, which means it's time for my favorite blog post of the year: my favorite reads of 2012! I love reading back through my notes and reminiscing over all the books I read over the last twelve months. I keep a log of every book I read, and here's a few statistics for you:

Total books read: 65 (12 of which were ARCs)

  • Middle Grade fiction: 2
  • Young Adult fiction: 48
  • Classics: 4
  • Adult fiction: 11
  • Nonfiction: 0 (will have to change this next year!)

And here is a list of my top ten favorites, in no particular order: (These are books I read in 2012, not necessarily that were published in 2012)

  • THE HOUSE AT TYNEFORD, by Natasha Solomons
  • FIRE & BITTERBLUE, by Kristin Cashore
  • BORN WICKED, by Jessica Spotswood
  • ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD, by Kendare Blake
  • MARCELO IN THE REAL WORLD, by Francisco Stork
  • BLACK HEART, by Holly Black
  • THE LAST WEREWOLF, by Glenn Duncan
  • TIGER LILY, by Jodi Anderson
  • GONE GIRL, by Gillian Flynn
  • THE DARKEST MINDS, by Alexandra Bracken

And a few more I have to mention, because I absolutely adored them too:

  • THRONE OF GLASS, by Sarah Maas
  • HOW I LIVE NOW, by Meg Rosoff
  • THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, by John Green
  • THE MAGICIANS, by Lev Grossman
  • BLOOD RED ROAD, by Moira Young
  • SHADOW AND BONE, by Leigh Bardugo

There you have it! So much fun to go back through my notes and see what I loved about these books. I'm really excited to dive into a new stack of books for 2013. Here's my current to-be-read list, not including those on my Kindle, which seems to grow by the day.

What about you? What were your favorite reads of the last year?
