I've been obsessed with the Great Gatsby soundtrack even though the movie doesn't come out until May. I love that book. I just finished re-reading it, and man, that book sure does hold up to time, especially the whole theme of how truth doesn't matter as long as it sounds good. F. Scott Fitzgerald used to spend summers here in Asheville at the Grove Park Inn; here I am hanging out in his room with a friend.
Florence and the Machine is just cool all-around, but I especially love this song from the soundtrack, "Bedroom Hymns":
Likewise with Jack White. His "Love is Blindness" song is amazing:
And my favorite, Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild," which is such a great fit for the themes in The Madman's Daughter. In the book (as in HG Wells' The Island of Doctor Moreau which inspired it), the delusional Doctor Moreau is an atheist, and yet thinks of himself as a god to his jungle beasts, and without spoiling anything, you can imagine how well that works out for him.
