FAN ART CONTEST: Win an author-illustrated copy of The Madman's Daughter

The Madman's Daughter has been out in the world for three months! I've been so blown away by the great response it's gotten. Hearing from readers young and old, male and female, US and abroad, has been incredible moving, and I so appreciate every one of you who has written me, blogged about the book, posted a review, or just read and enjoyed it. This has really been a dream come true.

I mentioned on this blog a few weeks ago that I started doodling in one of my author copies, and I ended up illustrating the entire book. Many of you wrote to say you'd like a chance to win the illustrated book in a contest, so this is for you!

And also: EVERY ENTRY WINS SOMETHING!

THE CONTEST

I will be giving away this one-of-a-kind copy of THE MADMAN'S DAUGHTER illustrated by yours truly. I've done over 35 black & white (and a few blood-red) illustrations including a map of the island. I'd also be happy to personalize it to the winner.

To enter, submit any piece of fan art! And "art" has a broad meaning: It could be a drawing or painting, digital artwork, song, collage, poem, needlepoint, fan-made cover, heck, even a recipe or cocktail recipe (if you're age appropriate) inspired by the book.

If your artwork can be emailed (like a poem or digital artwork), email it to: meganshepherdauthor@gmail.com. If it can't be emailed, please take a photograph or video and email it to the same email address.

If you'd like to mail me your submission (not required, just a photograph is fine, but it's definitely appreciated!), please send to: Megan Shepherd, 72 Houston St, Asheville NC 28801.

The deadline is June 1, 2013, so get working! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. If you post a photo of your submission on Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter, please link to me so I can repost it.

THE PRIZES

  • The grand-prize winner will receive the personalized illustrated copy and a tin of Madman's Daughter tea (special box and ten bags)
  • Two runners up with each receive signed bookmarks & a tin of the tea (special box and ten bags)
  • And, every single person who enters will receive Madman's Daughter bookmarks & an individually wrapped bag of custom tea. Be sure to give me your mailing address when you enter.

GUEST JUDGES

And more exciting news...some very special author friends have agreed to be the guest judges! YA authors Beth Revis, Stephanie Perkins, and Alexa Duncan have agreed to meet me at a coffee shop and select the winners over hot chocolate and cookies. Thanks ladies :)

Annotated MADMAN

I'm between drafts and have a rare few days off while I'm waiting for my next edit letter. I love days like this, when I can let my imagination wander. I decided to annotate a special edition of THE MADMAN'S DAUGHTER with illustrations, a map of the island, and historical footnotes.
